Raksha Bandhan festival is a popular, traditional Hindu, annual rite, or ceremony especially celebrated by Brhamans and Chhetri community in Nepal. This is a religious festival. on this day hindu bhramans and Chheri community people visit Shiva temples and change their 'Janai' (sacred thread worn around the neck). They also get protection threads on their wrist by hindu priests.
Just next day of this festival, the Newars of Kathmandu valley celebrate Gaijatra festival. Gai Jatra, is a festival celebrated mainly in Kathmandu valley by the Newar community. The festival commemorates the death of people during the year and is generally celebrated in the month of August–September.
Day 1: Arrival in Kathmandu (. /. / D)
Meet and assistance by Loyal representative/guide, transfer to hotel. PM: Explore Kathmandu, walking through the old city. Welcome dinner in a typical Nepali restaurant with cultural show.
Day 2: Sightseeing tour in Kathmandu (B/L/ D)
Early morning, possibility to take mountain flight (optional) which offers the magnificent panoramas over the Himalayas including Mt. Everest. Back to hotel for breakfast. AM: visit Swayambhunath (Monkey Temple) which is one of the most beautiful UNESCO sites in Kathmandu. Visit Kathmandu Durbar Square including Kumari house, Kasthamandap, freak street and other historical monumens.Lunch in Patan. PM: visit craft city of Patan. Visit Patan Durbar Square, museum, golden temple and several other monuments in the old city. Dinner at hotel.
Day 3: Sightseeing in Kathmandu (B/L/ D)
AM: visit Boudhnath, the biggest Buddhist stupa in Nepal. Visit Pashupatinath temple, Nepal’s biggest hindu temple which is famous for its cremation Ghats and many colorful religious activities. Lunch at Bhaktapur. PM: visit Bhaktapur city. Visit Bhaktapur Durbar Square, Nyatapola temple, pottery square etc.
Day 4: Kathmandu - Bandipur (B/L/ D)
Drive to Bandipur (4 hrs). After lunch, 2 hrs walk around Bandipur. Enjoy magnificient view over Ganesh himal, Manaslu and Annapurna ranges of Himalayas. Visit Bandipur including temples, old town and mountain view point.
Day 5: Bandipur - Pokhara (B/L/ D)
AM: Drive to Pokhara (3hrs). Lunch at lakeside. Boating in Fewa lake (45m), visit Davise fall and Tibetan village. Dinner at hotel.
Day 6: Pokhara (B/L/ D)
Early morning drive to World Peace Pagoda to see sunrise over the Annapurna Mountains, walk 20m to get to the ste pagoda.. After sunrise non walkers walk down to the bus and drive back to the hotel for breakfast. Walkers walk 2 hrs to Dam side through forest and rice field. They carry packed breakfast. Lunch at lakeside restaurant. PM: visit Bindabasini temple, walk through the old city, visit Pokhara fruit and vegetable market and international mountain museum. Dinner at hotel.
Day 7: Pokhara - Kathmandu (B/L/ D)
Drive to Kathmandu (5 hrs). Check in at hotel. PM: Free time in Thamel for shopping and walking around. Dinner at Thamel and drive back to hotel.
Day 8: Departure transfer (B/. / .)
Free till departure.
